The Black gospel quartet is one of the most under appreciated and under acknowledged roots of popular American music today.  Soul, R&B, Rock & Roll, Punk and Rap all owe a debt to quartet singing. The “gospel highway” is still alive despite being overshadowed by its secular offspring. Holy Ghost Electric will pay homage to this genre by documenting the singers, musicians, radio DJs and fans on their journey to the Holy Ghost Electric program (the preferred term for a quartet concert).  The format will be half personal stories and half concert footage. Think the Maysles brother’s Give Me Shelter riding on the gospel highway.
